Press Release

Mike Morgan and David Payne

PRESS RELEASE February 2, 2007

KFOR-TV4 in Oklahoma City, a NBC affiliate and number one rated TV station in Oklahoma, has become the first broadcaster in the U.S. to implement Thrane and Thrane, Explorer 527 autotracking uplink technology primarily for severe weather chasing and spot news gathering. The new units allow KFOR storm chasers and broadcast professionals to travel at up to 70 mph while sending live streaming video footage, store and forward footage and images back to the station for broadcast. The Explorer 527 system is expected to be state-of-the-art for many years to come because upgrades will come in the form of software. The Explorer 527 uses the new Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) owned by Inmarsat and currently streams at 128k. However, an anticipated software upgrade in 2007 will allow 256k streaming and fluid video transmission while driving at highway speed.

The systems were installed at KFOR by iPixCel, LLC of Oklahoma City on a turn-key custom software basis and included iPixCel's latest innovations in BGAN video streaming. Capabilities include streaming, video conferencing, picture transmission, burst video, web portal and automated receive. This new software automates the streaming process and includes motion compensation capabilities.

This system revolutionizes the quality of video supplied by weather chasers and their coverage area according to Roger Fulton, VP of Technical Sales & Marketing for iPixCel, LLC. iPixCel is a software development company and a Preferred Partner with Thrane and Thrane, the leading supplier of mobile satellite devices for the BGAN network. iPixCel is also an airtime reseller for Inmarsat and turn-key solutions provider for mobile video applications. Mr. Fulton further states that KFOR has dramatically demonstrated their commitment to provide the best possible weather information for viewers. Television audiences flock to stations that utilize current technology to save lives and KFOR-4 has taken the lead! Detailed product descriptions are available at www.ipixcel.com .

Mansour Ansari, Chief Technology Officer for iPixCel, believes that the outstanding safety feature of the iPixCel BGAN software family is the ability to stream live while mobile, using extreme automation. This eliminates operator involvement with hardware and software while driving at highway speed. iPixCel's technology, which includes Thrane and Thrane uplink devices, Inmarsat's BGAN and iPixCel's software is currently installed and operating at many TV stations across the country. Systems currently installed use Inmarsat's GAN and BGAN as well as various CDMA networks. For technical information regarding iPixCel's turnkey systems, contact Mansour Ansari 405-414-7791.
